- What We Do

We identified the following problems
- Access to health care is difficult for people who live in the interior communities of Cameroon as they are very far from health centers and hospitals
- Unhealthy living is common amongst the common people of the communities that may lead to the emergence of new diseases or spread of the already existing ones
- Gender inequality as the girl child is considered non important and can be treated anyhow without considering that they are human

Thematic Areas
Our Areas of operation
Community Testing And Treatment
Many community members do not have access to health care due to poverty, long distances to get to health facilities, high transport cost and lots more reasons. Many people still die in their houses because they could not get to a health care provider. MATAKA provides health care to community member through trained community health workers

Capacity Buildings And Trainings
People do not know the dangers of these diseases in the communities and therefore do not put in any efforts to prevent them. Capacity building of community members will reduce the level of illiteracy and speed up the ways to fight diseases.
Referrals
HIV/AIDS and Tuberculosis patients who have abandoned treatment due to far distances from the treatment center or other reasons are searched and referred back to treatment as a means to combat the continuous spread of the diseases.

Gender Equality
Everyone is equal and has the right to quality health care despite the gender. In most parts of our community, women can not access health care without the permission of their husbands and may lead to deaths due to husband’s disapproval or denial to health care. There are still communities where a woman who gives birth at the hospital is considered weak and lazy and thus accessing health care is difficult is the husband disapproves.
